From small beginnings...
to what IHL is today
Independent Home Living was established in 2000 by Ann Wyatt and Alison Thompson.
Right from the start, their aim was to provide a high standard of care and support for those wishing to stay in their own homes.
"We began with just one client who we helped for one hour a week on a Thursday afternoon. Things have changed. We now provide care for several hundred clients over three branches but our core values remain the same."
To provide the highest standards of social, domestic, personal and specialist care
To promote a person-centred approach ensuring that support provided meets or exceeds the requirement of the individual
Where appropriate, to liaise with and support client’s family members or nominated person
To monitor and review the implementation of care, whilst continually updating our service
To regularly review national and local domiciliary care legislation
"Whilst we are sad to lose our mother, we are very grateful that, with your support, she was able to stay in her own home right to the end. This meant everything to her"
"To everyone at IHL and my special thanks to all the carers who came to help during the bad weather"
"Thanks for everything." - J.M.
